This Hunsaker sibling reunion was the best one yet! It was also the longest one so far. We each took turns forgetting things and laughing at our mistakes. Jesse and Mike provided experienced driving and cooking. Jesse has perfected his fish grilling skills which we enjoyed every night. The snorkeling at Ko'Olina was superb. We shared memories about the Hunsaker family home with many delightful stories told.

D.R.Congo Dec. 11,2013
Today was most interesting as we toured the Masina Eye Clinic. Dad was very impressed with the growth and progress they have made in providing eye care for the 2.5 million people who live in the area. They have served 100,000 patients and done 4000 cataracts in the three years since opening the clinic. The Doctors are very excited to meet with Dad once again and you can really feel the appreciation they have for the partnership that has developed between LDS Charities and the Eye community at St. Joseph's hospital and Masina Eye Clinic. With our extra time this afternoon, we took pictures of the Congo River from the top of the apartment building where we are staying. I got to visit the "beach" fabric store again and found just one piece of fabric, instead of 20! Tomorrow we head home on the 11p.m. flight to Paris.
I am sharing a quote from my Family History Class which sums up our feelings about the importance of humanitarian work.
"The community whose hearts are open to the cries of distress, who are ready to administer of the substance which The Lord gives them to relieve their fellow creatures, may depend upon the favor of The Lord, for He loves those who are kind to their fellow-men, and who administer to their necesssities, whose hearts are tender, and who readily respond to applications of this charater which are made upon them, or who anticipate them by giving freely to the destitute." Pres. Woodruff.

D. R. Congo December 2013
.Jesse and I left for the DR Congo on Dec. 7, 2013. We flew to Minneapolis where it was -4 degrees.
Paris was 40 degrees and it was a balmy 85 when we arrived in Kinshasa. This is my third time to the Congo. As we boarded the plane, I decided to embrace the experience by observing the people who were getting on. There were mothers with young children, business men, elderly people in wheel chairs, and teenagers who dressed just like American teens. The love I have developed for the African people filled my thoughts. I sat next to a young man who lives in Paris, but was going to visit his father in the DRC. He said that most Congolese who live in France do so in order to send money back to their families because unemployment is so high there.
Both of us were pleasantly surprised with the improvements here in the DRC. The airport inside was renovated, still loud with lots of people milling around. The main highway had been widened into Kinshasa. The humanitarian couple, the Moons are from Bountiful. Their apartment is located in the USAID housing compound, which is well guarded.
We received a very warm greeting from Dr. Kilangalanga and Dr. Makwanga. They are good friends and colleagues. The first day involved set up and the usual problems that arise. The second day was training by Dad on the B-Scan and Yag laser machines. Twelve doctors came to participate. Things went smoothly until the CO -2 tank wouldn't work for the Cryo-machine. Hopefully tomorrow it will be fixed! I am struggling with jet lag, but Dad is on Center stage as Master -trainer!
The Moons are taking very good care of us with yummy meals and a great king size bed in their apartment.

Visit to Flower Mound to see the Cleggs
We took a quick trip to Texas to see the Clegg family. Jesse got to see his newest grandson, Carter for the first time. Carter is growing much too fast for his Mother's liking. Spencer, Hunter and Shelby had a fun time making lizards, snakes and bees with the pony beads Grammy Diane had brought. They will be in Flower Mound for only one more week, and then they are off to Ohio for a new adventure. We enjoyed watching Conference with Amy and Jeff Bresee at their home on Saturday afternoon in Mansfield, Texas.
